GOOD NEWS!
The island of Sanibel and your resort faired very well through "Fay". Unfortunately we cannot predict what will happen when a storm approaches so we have to prepare for the worst. As management we make all our final decisions based on direction from the City of Sanibel
authorities.
Your resort staff did an excellent job of securing your property to the best of their ability to avoid as much destruction as possible. The process of securing your property starts when we become aware that the storm will probably reach our shores. Once the City of Sanibel announces a voluntary evacuation we begin the major process of securing your property. We inform all owners and guests of the possibility of a mandatory evacuation.
The City of Sanibel issued a mandatory evacuation of all hotels, resorts and condominiums at 3:30 P.M. on Monday August 18, 2008. The final securing of your property was completed around 6:00 P.M. and nearly all guests and staff were off the island.
Interrupting an owner or guests vacation is the hardest decision management has to make but we must, based on the city officials direction, do everything possible to secure the safety of our owners, guests and staff.
